Norton is the only software that's ever done that, and I've been using Macs since 1991 and can troubleshoot anything. I ended up keeping it installed, but turning every Norton setting off. Wasted several days due to this software. I had to restore my entire hard drive via a backup, which took hours. So, I reinstalled Norton, and it works again. It would start up in Safe mode, and once after restarting from Safe mode, but not again. On the next start-up, the Mac wouldn't start: gray screen of death. Norton for Mac puts hidden files all over the place and doesn't remove all of them upon an "uninstall." After the uninstall, I found invisible Symantec files and deleted them. However, as I dug deeper into my system, I found the software did not completely uninstall. Grey screen of death.Īfter testing Norton and deciding I didn't care for it, I uninstalled it. I tried to restart my Mac G5 after installing Norton and could not.
